Incident 14/09– Call to Yacht on Rocks, Roberts Head.

Incident 13/09 Pagers activated at 13:23hrs by Valentia MRCC. Task Crosshaven Coast Guard to to investigate a possible pollution incident in the Crosshaven River by the Hugh Coveney Pier

Incident 12/09 Call to assist in the evacuation of a casualty from a Cliff walkway at Fort Camden, Crosshaven

Incident 11/09 Call to investigate the sighting of red flares in the Myrtleville / Fountainstown area of Crosshaven on the seaward side.

Incident 10/09 Call to Investigate a report of a lot of black smoke in the area off the Bull Rock, Crosshaven.

Incident 07/09 Call to assist a Yacht after De-Masting

Incident 07/09 – Great Island, Cobh

Incident 06/09 – Person in the water at the back of the Kingsley Hotel Cork,

This call was to a person in the water at the back of the Kingsley Hotel Cork, Crew assemble and requested to

‘Stand Down’ by Velentia MRSC as Fire Service has recovered the person from the water.

 

 

 

 

Incident 05/09 – Fountainstown Beach

Pagers activated at 11:45hrs by Valentia MRCC, Call in relation to a report of an overturned pleasure craft at Fountainstown Beach, From a member of the public driving the coast road. The Person noticed what he said was an over turned boat in the water off the beach in Fountainstown & rang the Gardai.

Team assembled at Crosshaven station. Then made our way to Fountainstown

Fountainstown is 3km’s from Base

This turned out to be a racing mark used for yachts that had deflated & appeared to be an overturned boat.

False Alarm Good Intent  

Services Involved:

Crosshaven Lifeboat, Crosshaven Gardai.

Incident 03/09 – Rocky Bay

Thurs 19th Mar 2009, 19:28hrs Incident 03/09

Pagers activated at 19:28hrs by Valentia MRCC, Call in relation to a dog owner who had descended a cliff to look for a dog in Rocky Bay.
It was reported the dog had fallen from the cliff top. There is an 80ft drop to the sea.

Team assembled at Crosshaven station, then made our way to Rocky Bay, 8km from Base.

Dog owner found safe & well, But alas the dog did not survive the fall.

The Cliffs in this area can be very dangerous & mobile coverage is patchy.

Services Involved:
Oysterhaven Coastguard, Rescue 117 (Helo) On Standby.
